Venrock investments span information technology, healthcare, and energy sectors. While opportunities are viewed individually, elements common to all of our investments include:

- Capable management teams with an entrepreneurial vision, drive, and pertinent experience

- Products which address dynamic markets with high growth rates and substantial size

- Leading edge or breakthrough technology with a proprietary and/or a leadership position

- Thoughtful assessment of the risks of the target market sector and those inherent in early stage companies
We prefer to work with entrepreneurs and their enterprises in their earliest form. The majority of Venrock investments are seed or first round, and range from investments of a couple hundred thousand to $10 million or more. Second round investments are considered where there is demonstrated progress toward market leadership.
